Research Interests

I study the molecular adaptations that bats exhibit for echolocation and high frequency hearing. In particular I am interested in prestin, the motor protein of outer hair cells which has undergone accelerated evolution in some bats, and convergent evolution in distantly related echolocators (bats and whales).
